Public Golf Courses Near Melbourne Beach

South Brevard County packs a surprising amount of playable public golf into a small stretch of coast. Below is an independent, plain-English guide to the courses most golfers pair with a visit to Melbourne Beach. We have kept the descriptions honest and general — for current rates and tee times, always go to each course's official channels.

Island Links at Aquarina — Melbourne Beach

The closest course to the barrier-island beaches and the namesake of this guide. A par-62 executive eighteen designed by Charles Ankrom (1996), running about 4,300 yards with water in play throughout. Short, breezy, walkable and family-friendly — an ideal warm-up or a relaxed nine before the beach. Read the full Island Links at Aquarina profile.

Spessard Holland Golf Course — Melbourne Beach

Just up the island, Spessard Holland is the area's beloved municipal course — a par-67 layout that opened in 1977 to a Palmer Enterprises design, stretching to roughly 5,210 yards between the Atlantic and the Indian River. It is one of two south-Brevard courses now operated by the nonprofit Golf Brevard, which was founded in 2018 specifically to preserve accessible public golf on the Space Coast. Firm, honest and genuinely coastal, it is the natural companion round to Aquarina.

The Habitat Golf Course — Malabar / Grant-Valkaria

A short drive inland, The Habitat is the region's championship-length public option: a full par-72 that plays around 6,800 yards through the Grant-Valkaria nature preserve. Also run by Golf Brevard, it is prized for its wildlife, its width off the tee, and its quiet, natural routing. If you want a "real" full round to balance the executive courses on the coast, this is it.

Duran Golf Club — Viera

North of Melbourne in the Viera community, Duran is a modern public club that consistently lands on lists of the area's most family-friendly courses, with a full course, a lighted par-3 course and a strong practice facility. It is a good pick if you are traveling with mixed abilities or juniors.

Baytree National Golf Links — Melbourne

A Gary Player design in Melbourne with a links-influenced feel, red-shale waste areas and more length than the coastal executive courses. Baytree is the choice when you want a marquee public track and do not mind a slightly firmer green fee.

Planning Your Rounds

Two executive coastal courses (Aquarina and Spessard Holland) plus one championship layout (The Habitat) make an easy, varied three-course itinerary, all within about a half-hour of Melbourne Beach. For county-run options and general information, Brevard County Parks & Recreation keeps a current list.
